Welcome to the fourteenth episode of Best Issue Ever! This episode's issue is chosen by Arturo Rojas, who goes by @mistertoybox on Twitter and Instagram. We're discussing Uncanny X-Men #274, written by Chris Claremont, with art by Jim Lee, Scott Williams, and Joe Rosas, and lettering by Pat Brosseau. Great!
Arturo is a fellow frequent flyer on the Graymalkin Lane podcast, and we have regularly done script readings over there (I'm usually playing Jean Grey and Arturo plays characters like Sabertooth and Apocalypse. You can also check out Bitches On Comics' Wheel of Time episode, which features me and Arturo gabbing about Rosamund Pike's beautiful, beautiful face, among other things.
This podcast is recorded in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. It is edited by Sara Century. The theme music is provided by Earth Control Pill, whose work is on Bandcamp.

Welcome to the thirteenth episode of Best Issue Ever! This episode's issue is Magical Beatdown #1 by Jenn Woodall. It was brought to me by Jamie L. Rotante, who is the senior editor at Archie and a columnist at Razorcake, among other things!
Jamie is the best, so go listen to our chat from last year on Bitches On Comics! There are plenty of other ways to follow Jamie, including her newsletter, website, Razorcake column, comics writing work, and/or by buying some Archie. As an Archie megafan, I encourage you to look at some of the stuff they've been putting out lately.

Welcome to the twelfth episode of Best Issue Ever! This episode's issue is Captain America #392, written by Mark Gruenwald, with art by Rik Levins, Danny Bulanadi, Marie Javins, and Steve Buccellato, and letters by Joe Rosen. The subject was chosen by Daryl Lawrence!
Daryl is the programming director for the Uncanny Experience X-Men convention in Minneapolis, which looks like a ton of fun! He also co-hosts the podcast The X-Factor Files with his partner Phillip. It's really neat! I recently appeared on an episode hyping Amora the Enchantress, who I love.

Welcome to the eleventh episode of Best Issue Ever! This episode's issue is Omac #3, created by Jack Kirby and D. Bruce Berry. The subject was chosen by the comic creator Vannotes!
Vannotes works on a whole lot of things, so I recommend you follow them @VannotesBooks on all the platforms. Meanwhile, I can tell you about their pop culture podcast Your Trash Pals, which is a fun look at bad art alongside more salient observations about, you know, life. I also really enjoy their zine, Seasonal Produce.

Welcome to the tenth episode of Best Issue Ever! This episode's issue is Birds of Prey #57 by Gail Simone, Ed Benes, Alex Lei, Hi-Fi Design, and John Workman. Lysa Hawkins edits it. This episode's issue was chosen by AJ Wright!
AJ's podcast network is the Wright On Network, where you can find podcasts like Feathers and Foes, Straight Out of Gallifrey, The Huntress Podcast, and so many more. I most recently guested on a 10-part breakdown of the 2nd Doctor Who's final arc, "The War Games," but I've guested on Wright On shows many times so scroll through!

Welcome to the ninth episode of Best Issue Ever! This episode's issue is Excalibur #71, which has an enormous list of creators working on it, so tune in to hear the whole shebang. This was chosen by D'Manda Martini!
D'Manda is a drag queen cosplayer with a penchant for z-list superheroes, which makes her a perfect guest for this show specifically. You can follow her @dmandamartini across social media platforms, and I recommend it! She appears at many conventions every year, so give her a follow to find out where she'll be next. Check out her linktree!
D'Manda references an article written by Chris Vazquez about the Scarlet Witch's queer fans in this post. It appeared on the Washington Post in 2022 and is linked to here.

Welcome to the eighth episode of Best Issue Ever! This episode's issue is Love & Rockets: The Love Bunglers by Jaime Hernandez, chosen by Alex Segura!
Alex has written so many things! It's honestly so wild, so I'm going to link you to his website and encourage you to pick up, well, everything. Perhaps most notably atm, he wrote the novel Secret Identity, with the follow-up Alter Ego releasing in December 2024. Check those out! They are so fun.

Welcome to the seventh episode of Best Issue Ever! This episode's issue is the rare complete collection, we've got Chainsaw Man Vol. 9 featuring Briana Lawrence!
Briana recently authored The Essential Manga Guide, which I highly recommend - it's super well-written, and the love Briana has for manga will fill your heart with joy. Besides that, she's an editor at Crunchyroll, and has written a LOT of articles, some of which are linked to here. As I mentioned during the call, that's really just scratching the surface with her work, so give her a follow. You can keep tabs on her many projects through her website.

Welcome to the sixth episode of Best Issue Ever! This episode's issue is DC Vs. Vampires #6 chosen by Preeti Chhibber!
Preeti has written a ton of stuff! I first met her via her work at SYFY, where I also worked. She has written lots of comics and comic book tie-ins, so I'll direct you to her handy website where you can learn more. She has a YA novel currently up for pre-order, Payal Mehta's Romance Revenge Plot. And, if you want to hear more of us chatting, she guested on an episode of Bitches On Comics a while back!

Welcome!
Best Issue Ever is a podcast about comics. This series is for talking about issues we love. You can get lots of new recommendations from this pod while hearing some of your favorite creators talk about why comics are awesome. Win-win!
If you would like to support the podcast, the best way to do that is to subscribe directly through the Ko-fi, where you will get a lot of extra episodes and some updates to the behind-the-scenes of creating the podcast.
This is far from Sara's first foray into podcasts! She co-founded QueerSpec Publishing, which released the Decoded Pride speculative fiction anthology three years in a row. She helms the narrative horror podcasts Decoded Horror Channel and Medusa Mask. She is a co-host of the Bitches On Comics pop culture podcast. She has written MANY articles - you can look up links to her work on her website.
Sara is a horror writer, so you can pick up any number of her books through her Amazon author page. If you'd prefer to avoid Amazon and directly support small publishers (this helps small presses thrive so thank you if so), she has appeared in multiple releases you can buy directly from Weirdpunk Books. This includes her short story collection A Small Light & Other Stories, as well as great Weirdpunk anthologies like The New Flesh and Feral Architecture. Some Weirdpunk authors will be appearing on this podcast, so definitely check them out.
Finally, the best way to get updates from Sara is through her newsletter! She sends it out a few times a year and it's packed with random projects and pet anecdotes.
If you have questions or comments, send to deepdreamspodcast@gmail.com.
